Six practical checklists to help you use AI for a real business task, review the result and stay in control of what gets shared or published.

Use these AI checklists for small business at the moment you need them. The boxes can be ticked on this page. You can also print the page or choose Print → Save as PDF in your browser to keep a copy. Tick marks on the webpage may reset when you leave or refresh it, so save or print a copy if you need a record.
You do not need to complete all six for every task. Start with the first two when planning, use the checks on facts and privacy whenever they apply, and use the publishing or workflow review before those specific actions. For a ready-made instruction, open the AI Prompt Library. For the information to feed into it, use the AI Templates.
How to use these AI checklists
Pick the checklist that matches your next decision. Work through each line and check the box only when it is true. An empty box means there is something to clarify, verify or change. It is a useful pause, not a failed test. You make the final decision.
1. Choose an AI task
Use before you open a tool, especially if you are just getting started.
If you are deciding where to begin, see AI for Small Business and the AI Tools guide.
2. Prepare a prompt
Use before you submit an instruction to an AI tool.
Try a prompt from the Prompt Library, then adapt it with your own facts. The better AI prompts guide explains why each part matters.
3. Check facts and sources
Use when the result includes claims, numbers, names, dates, links or quotations.
If a claim matters to a buying, health, legal or financial decision, use an appropriate primary source or qualified professional for that claim.
4. Protect privacy and permissions
Use before putting material into a tool or reusing generated content.
When in doubt, use a blank AI template to gather public or approved facts first.
5. Review AI-assisted content before publishing
Use for a website page, email, social post or public answer.
For a fuller process, see AI for Content Creation.
6. Repeat a workflow safely
Use when one useful AI task becomes a regular business process.
Build the steps with Create Useful AI Workflows.
What if a box stays unchecked?
Pause at the specific step. If the problem is a missing fact, get it from your current source or mark it for confirmation. If it is privacy, remove or generalise the material before using the tool. If the draft makes a claim you cannot support, delete the claim. If a repeated workflow lacks a reviewer, keep the output as an internal draft until someone takes that role.
